Gili Eco Trust #4 – swimdonesia

For the last few weeks, the campus Global Concern Group, Gili Eco Trust, have been working on the upcoming event, Swimdonesia, which aims to fundraise for the NGO regarding the solutions for Indonesia’s marine pollution. We are collaborating with two other Global Concern groups in order to hold a large-scale event that will help raise awareness and funds for each group. Today we set up the posters and tents around the poolside as well as in other parts of the school. We really want this event to be successful as it is the first in-person event in 2 years and we have asked for help from people around the campus including the swimming team/coach and many faculty members.

The event ended up a huge success with more than 200 people buying the entrance ticket and more than 300 foods being sold. During the event, I realized the importance of working collaboratively as it was difficult to keep track of the number of tickets that we were selling while maintaining a conversation with the children. Even after the event, there were still many tasks such as cleaning the poolside, washing the cups/dishes, and creating a reflective analysis. I realized how much work is needed to be put in to make an event successful and I think I will be able to understand the difficulty and help others when I encounter a similar event in the future.
